• Poker Face

    [ English ]

Do you ever have that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the nearest casino, to come across a good stakes game of Texas hold’em, to sit at a Twenty-one table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also love to watch people bet. No 2 poker faces seem equal. When I gamble I like to feel I put on a poker face that’s impassable. But I know I’ve particular actions. For one, the only time I smoke cigarettes is when I bet on poker or Blackjack. And then I smoke. Except I chain smoke whether or not I am winning or losing, whether or not I have a excellent hand or bad.

I once wagered in the weekly poker game. The casino game was always 5 card draw. There was a man who bet with us every single week who usually wore a hat. When he was given a very good hand, subconsciously, he would start touching and playing with his hat. Needless to say, he never won.

The greatest poker gambler I ever saw was a guy who produced additional movements and gestures at a poker table than anyone I had ever met. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Generally an pricey suit and tie, shoes shined and nails manicured. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was constantly brushing his pant leg or holding his hands or stacking his chips in tidy little piles.

I use to examine him for long periods of time. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Picking lint off his jacket- did this mean he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a very short pile – did this mean he had a very good hand?

Many years later I ran into him in a bar in Vegas and we had a beverage. I asked him if he had been aware of all those actions he created or if they had been unconscious. He told me that each and every individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is generally checking out everybody else’s poker face. They are trying to notice the the tell.

So his system was to give them lots to think about. His thinking was if they had been pondering about him picking a piece of lint off his coat and what it meant they certain were not thinking about their cards.

His program was distraction. And it worked for him. In no way give up a program that works for you.
