Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers around the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
