• NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

    Howard Lederer lived in a family of five in which he liked betting on numerous card games at a young age. He found himself getting very competitive in these card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to place higher education on hold for a little while and relocated to New York City to play some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were rough as he played extensive hours and do not win most times. He made some extra cash by becoming an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could better his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus more on poker.

    The actual advancement in his skills happened when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best players would often challenge each other. He had access into a number of the best players in chess. With their assistance, Howard would sharpen his logical thinking skills. Howard used these strategic concepts in the game of No-Limit hold’em.

    Howard Lederer also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. He told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the best female players the poker world has ever seen. He moved to Las Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
