Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player.
