• Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
