Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
