• NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

    Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

    Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
