Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most difficult but favored poker variations. It is a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure variation, has expanded in acceptance so quickly.

Omaha hi/lo begins like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to each player. A round of betting ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. Another round of wagering ensues. Once all the gamblers have either called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The players must attempt to put together the strongest high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a number of players can get confused. Unlike Holdem, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must utilize precisely three cards on the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical notion in nearly all poker games.

A low hand is more complex, but certainly opens up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that might be put together, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand wins the entire pot.

It may seem complex initially, following a couple of hands you will be able to get the basic subtleties of play simply enough. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha/8 provides an exciting range of wagering choices and seeing that you have several players trying for the high, and many trying for the low hand.
