• NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

    He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

    Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
