• NL Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he liked gambling on numerous card games when he was young. He found himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After graduating from high school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a bit and moved to New York to participate in some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he would play many hours and don’t win most times. He earned some extra cash by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he could better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He brought about an effort to get more rest and focus more on poker.

The definite improvement in his game happened when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would often challenge one another. He was able to access a few of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his strategic thinking abilities. Howard used these strategy ideas in the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was an excellent student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to move out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker world has ever seen. He relocated to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and played cash games for the next decade. When the WPT gained popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
